Cups
I would like to get the recipe for Peanut
Butter Recee Cups. I believe
my mom got the recipe from Mrs. Black in #1
camp. If anyone still
has the recipe I would appreciate it. I remember
mom making it when
I was real young. I remember you put chocolate,
peanut butter and
chocolate (in that order) in paper cup cake
cups and refrigerate. But I
don't remember how they made the chocolate
and if you add anything
to the peanut butter. I have tried making
it, but it is not the same.
They really taste like Recee Cups.
Name: Edna
Hi Debra, Could this be the recipe?
1 pound butter-softened
2 cups peanut butter
3 teaspoons vanilla
21/2-3 pounds powdered sugar
1pound dipping chocolate*
cream butter and peanut butter. Add vanilla.
Add sugar; form into
small balls Pour little bit of chocolate in
the bottom of paper cup.
Drop ball in while chocolate is soft. Pour
more chocolate on top to
rim of cup.
* Melt Dark or Milk chocalate pieces in a
double boiler or
microwave

Thanks Edna, this sounds like it may be the
recipe my mom used. I
will have to try it and see how it comes out.
Thanks again.
Hope you have a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving.
Take care and God bless,

Topic: BAKING A TURKEY
Hi friends those Holidays will roll around
before we know it.Lets
bake Turkey. Wanna walk you thrugh like you're
in my old
kitchen,come on in.I usually bake 18 pounder.When
a turkey is
frozen,do not thaw altogether outside fridge,Start
about three days
before baking to thaw in refrigerator and
last day let lay out little while
and put back in fridge will be all thawed
out next day,Be sure to wash
it thoroughly and keep Hands washed and clean
and all utentials,
because fowl can give Salmonella a real bad
sickness of the
stomach.Wash Turkey and lay out on paper towels
and dry good. I
have a large roaster with a lid on it .Have
roaster ready with enough
water that comes up to touch about 1/2 inch
to the turkey and the
juices can flow into, can always add extra
water.Chop up
onions, celery and put in the water salt and
pepper use your own
judgement of the engredients, don't be afraid
to experiment with your
cooking learns you to be a good cook,You can
either wrap your
turkey in aluminum foil or you can get cooking
bags at the
market. After cleaning place your turkey on
foil enough to wrap good
and do your seasoning or in the cooking bag
and push the top aside
salt and pepper and melt 2 sticks butter or
margarine.pour over and
inside the turkey.Never stuff with cornbread
dressing makes the
turkey taste strong, always bake it on the
side ,But you can use the
store bought dressing already mixed and put
enough water to soak it
and margarine and sage then stuff inside the
turkey fixing the legs
back inside the sack wrap up the ends of baking
bag can cut a few
slits in bag for juice to escape place in
the middle of Roaster,Most
turkeys have a little red button that snaps
out when done or can test
the tenderness by fork.always make sure you
have enough water in
your roaster to put in your dressin and make
good gravey.The giblets
can be cooked separate and add onions and
celery salt and pepper
also used in dressin. For corn bread dressin
make your cornbread
head of time,Crumble up bread in mixing bowl
also crumble up some
regular white bread and add to cornbread,
add celerey onions salt
and pepper and sage or pourtry seasoning til
you think it has enough
taste of sage and 2 eggs.To get the broth
from my roaster,I'm careful
to not get burned and lay something on my
oven door and with
padded gloves pull my roaster out far enough
to take a cooking
dipper and dip juice and cooked onions and
celery from the sides of
the roaster over my dressing can add extra
water back in your roaster
if needed and add a little cold water to dressin, mixing
this Good and
bake in a long greased pan or greased skillet
til brown,When Turkey
is done lift and set out to cool. There are
large forks that can be
bought to stick in each side of turkey to
lift out and put on platter
removing the plastic bag and ready to carve.with
remaining broth for
gravey,Bring your broth back to boil and with
a cup of water stir in all
purpose flour or corn starch in the cup til
mixed good and stir into
your broth will thicken your broth making
good gravey,This is my
way of fixing a good tasteing Turkey for any
Holiday and your turkey
will not be dry but moist. Its Gooood- cook,
eat, smile,
be happy, and husband and kiddies and friends
will be happy and
don't forget to give Thanks unto God for your
food and ask his
Blessings. G.Ellen

Topic: Chicken and Dumplins Kentucky style
Hi friends I.ve already put on Fried chicken
so how about lets try
some chicken and dumplins,We can be glad for
modern days. It's not
like the good old days in Ky,when our relatives
would have to kill a
chicken and scald it and take off the feathers, now
we can go to the
market and pick out a good chicken and cut
up for ourselves..Pick a
good plump chicken to stew,Always wash it
good and also your
hands and knife you use,Because of salmonella
germs,Put about
4cups water in a pot and your cut up pieces
of chicken,or you can
even use just breasts for stewing.salt and
pepper and cook til
tender.Set aside to cool.Take off all meat
from the bones,always
make sure you have enough broth left to cook
dumplins.I also
sometimes use two chicken cubes in my broth.
Don't be afraid to
experiment with your cooking til you get it
down pat so to speak,For
dumplins,3 cups all purpose flour-1 teaspoon
salt-1 tablespoon
baking powders.1/2 teaspoon soda.2 eggs beaten
good 1cup of vit,d
milk-mix all in flour and some water to make
it to consistency to roll
out.Have a floured board and pour your dough
and roll in a ball and
use floured glass or roller to roll out the
dough,Roll out thin and flour
a little and cut small strips in both directions, put
a little butter on your
hands and it will make them easier to pick
up and drop in boiling
broth.keep stirring around til done,.Then
pour all the chicken pieces
into your dumplins, can always add a little
water if they are too dry
won't hurt taste. Also for the guys can just
spoon drop dough into
cooking broth a short cut i do alot of times.Bake
a nice pan of corn
bread, serve with a pot of fresh green half
runner beans with new
potatoes in them and some wonderful cole slaw,
desert: lemon

Hello, Thought I would share my Mom's Cornbread
recipe with you.
This is how my mom (Inez Childers Whitehead)
taught me to make
cornbread when I was 12-years old.
Pre-heat oven to 350°. Heat cooking oil
in cast iron skillet (do not let
oil burn). If your skillet tends to stick:
Sprinkle a little corn meal into
skillet just before pouring your batter in.
3-Cups Self Rising Meal
2-Cups Self Rising Flour
1-Egg (well beaten)
2-Tbs. Oil
Mix in enough butter milk, alternating with
water to make a good
consistency (depending on how you like your
cornbread).
Stir until smooth.
Pour into hot cast iron skillet, bake in 350°
oven for about 20 to
30-minutes or until golden brown. I like my
cornbread thin and
crispy. You can alter the recipe to make your
cornbread thicker or
thinner depending on the size of your iron
skillet.
Once out of the oven, spread butter on top.
Slice and enjoy.
My Mom loved to cook, but most of all she loved
cooking for others.
On many occasions, she would have us fix plates
and deliver them to
others before we sat down to eat.

Topic: LETS HAVE SOME FRIED CHICKEN COUNTRY
STYLE
Hi friends :Most of us good Kentuckians are
really familiar with
FRIEEEED CHICKEN, I can Remember how my aunt
Mary and
granny Julie would have to kill the chicken
and take off the feathers
and clean it, But we're lucky we can go to
the market and choose a
good chicken to cook or fry,You can buy it
already cut up ,but for us
who know how to cut up chicken ( I've cut
a many)we cut our own.
Wash the chicken good and also your hands
real good cause with
fowl we have to watch the Saminello germs
and thats worse then a
bad flu. can make you terribly sick Cut your
chicken in pieces place
in large bowl or pan=+ pepper it good and
salt all pieces- moving
them around+ in cup beat an egg and and add
some vit,d milk - to the
egg and beat, pour this over your chicken and
mix about rolling your
pieces around take a cup of self rising meal
and mix all over the
chicken and also add just a little all purpose
flour work it all in to
cover all the pieces I large frying pan add
enought wesson oil to cover
around your chicken ( Not a whole lot) enough
to fry it good and not
burn,Let the oil get real hot and place your
chicken pieces side by
side( like one big happy family) in the hot
oil.Place a lid on top.you
can usually smell the chicken browning take
a meat fork and slowly
turn your pieces on the other side .place
a lid on top allowing the
chicken to steam and get cooked thru,No one
likes to see Chicken
not done in the center, you can take your fork
and check sometimes
when you think your chicken is almost done
remove the lid and let
slowly fry and simmer awhile and it will get
golden brown and the
meal makes it so tasty. Serve with Green beans,
mashed potatoes
,slaw and a pan of cornbread and a desert. What
a good Kentucky
feast for that man you love.Come girls Get
that chicken Fried and you
won't have to go to COLONEL SANDERS FOR YOUR

Hi Gertie - great recipes! Did you ever
make a "Vinegar Cobbler"? My grand-
mother made them when I was a child. On
every Sunday after church we would go to her
house in Evarts for
Sunday dinner
and she would often have this dessert. It
is similar to lemon pie in that
it got its tartness from the vinegar. Take
my word it was delicious.
Keep up the recipes. Sharon 'Lee' Dibari -

Topic: THE BEST COLE SLAW INTHE WORLD WELL
MAYBE
HI friends In the 60's when my Peggy Sue was
a baby I worked at a
Restaurant in Dayton,Oh .called the Hasty
Tasty Restaurant- and
here I learnd to make the best cole slaw and
been making it ever
since ,even for our church dinners and picnics. They
say Gert make
some of that cole slaw.,Take a regular head
of Cabbage,If you have
one of those type hand slicers with the handle
with differen shapes of
openings fro cutting and grating, you can
Wash your cabbage dry off
excess water and cut in chunks ,Take your
cutter by the handle and a
piece of cabbage and slice up and down the
cutter til you have all
your chunks cut, well I might add you don't
have to use the whole
cabbage in this recipe if you don't need that
much take two carrots
and one onion, and couple stalks celery ,sometimes
I take the pieces
out of the center of the celery where its
nice and tender (like yours
truly Gert) (Love me tender love me sweet
never let me Go)scrape
your carrots and also slice them up and down
the cutter,and onion the
same til all are cut up.add a little salt
and a cup of sugar ,a teaspoon
of vinegar, 2 large cooking spoons Of Kraft
Mayonaise or put in
enough to your taste 1 cup of vit,d milk or
I just put my milk in til its
suitable to me.stir this all up good .By the
sweetness in it gives it a
good taste ,maybe for diabedics we can add
couple of those little
packs of sweet and low sugar subsitutes.instead
of sugar mix . put in
a nice bowl to go with your FriEEEEEd Chicken,That's
what my little
grand son Steven says he's 3 years old and
trys to be comical. ++ I
will make your life complete and I love you
so,Girls as you make this
slaw Think Of Elvis Pressley and sing :love
me tender, Love me
true+++ and you'll have that slaw dish made
before you can almost
bat your eye.She can bake a cheery pie Quick
as you can bat your
eye, she's a young one and cannot leave her
momma .Try it you'll like
it makie this little dishie for your little
hubby.- thanks all _

Topic: HOW TO MAKE PIE CRUST FOR YOUR PIES
Hi friends to not take up so much space on
making a pie or cobbler
I'll put the Pie crust recipe how I make it.I
usually use -Gold metal or
Martha White all purpose flour++===In mixing
bowl use 3 cups
flour+1 tablespoon (the size thats a little
bigger then a teaspoon)Like
a soup spoon.-1/2 teaspoon salt++= 2 large
cooking spoons of
crisco or shortening++mix the flour engredients
and (wash hands
first)be cleanny)then take hands work all
the crisco up in the flour til
its all little chunky pieces, pour cold water
in til consistency enough to
roll out and not gooey.put in frige and chill
makes it easier to work
with. have your dough board floured and lay
your dough in the center
put flour on top sorta roll it around and
get it firm,Take dough roller
or floured Glass and roll out thin to be able
to slice slices for cobbler
,But if you want to make a regular pie divide
the dough in parts for
each pie, have butterd round tins ready or
glass pie dishes,roll out thin
and fold over in center Picking up and put
in pan and fold back
open,Now don't be scared to work with it you
can learn to master
that dough, work it out over the edges taking
fingers and forming it to
fit the pan keep all holes sealed, take knife
and trim the edges and with
fork make some pretty designs around it,act
like you;re the bestes- a
pro. now its ready for the pie ingredients

them pots and pans get
ready some good pies for your hungry Man+++
